Matthew Smith was raised on a third generation cattle ranch just north of Burns, Oregon. Growing up and working on a cattle ranch with abundant opportunities for both fishing and hunting makes him uniquely qualified to represent those looking into the country lifestyle. Matthew was thrust upon the “Big City” when his father was elected to Congress in 1980. He spent his high school years in northern Virginia and couldn’t wait to get back to Oregon to attend college. Matthew started college at Willamette University and finishing with a degree in Business Administration and Management from Southern Oregon University.
He has since worked for the Oregon Legislature as well as four years as Constituent Services Manager for Congressman Greg Walden dealing with agriculture and natural resource issues. Matthew also spent five years selling commercial real estate in Southern Oregon for Burrill Real Estate Company.
Along with joint management of his family ranch, Matthew also participates in Smith West Co., a governmental services company that represents the three major irrigation districts in southern Oregon.
With his experience in dealing with federal and state agencies, growing up in the lifestyle, and his passion for hunting and fishing, Matthew is uniquely qualified to represent you in your farm and ranch real estate needs.
